Introduction	When Mel was five, she decided she would be a mermaid when she grew up. At the age of seven she realised this dream would involve extensive time spent at the sea combing her hair and luring sailors to their certain death, which was all well and good but not nearly as much fun as drawing mermaids. Since that time, Mel has got a little taller and can now buy her own paints. She still spends her days drawing and writing stories about the mermaids and other fabulous creatures that populate her head, and dreams of sharing these with other children just like her.
