Introduction	Islam, founded in the 7th century by the Prophet Muhammad in Mecca, teaches monotheism, with Allah as the sole deity. Muhammad, considered the last prophet, began receiving divine revelations from the angel Gabriel at age 40, which were later compiled into the Quran, Islam's holy book. Key practices, known as the Five Pillars, include the Shahada (declaration of faith), Salat (prayers five times a day), Zakat (charitable giving), Sawm (fasting during Ramadan), and Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). In 622 CE, the Hijra marked Muhammad’s migration to Medina, where he established the first Islamic state. Following his death in 632, Islam expanded rapidly through both conquest and peaceful means, spreading across the Middle East, North Africa, and beyond. Early Islam emphasized social justice, compassion, and a direct relationship with God.
