| Introduction | After 7 weeks in 2009 volunteering with an NGO in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, I was excited by the realisation that the skills I'd learnt in my career were transferable & useful in assisting these dedicated organisations help to change the lives of the most vulnerable. A 2nd trip in 2010 was the catalyst for a change in direction, & in March 2011, after 13 fantastic years working for Mainfreight in different cities around the world, I farewelled my family, my friends, my church and my work & began a new chapter in Cambodia. I love it. God certainly has a place for me here & I’ve made some special friends & been privileged to work with some organisations doing effective work. Currently I’m volunteering with several organisations, wearing various hats, which keeps me on my toes. I have a long term & the odd ad hoc assignment doing Org Capacity Building work; some Planning & Implementation work; & also some work with an NGO reaching out to kids in the slums, as both a mentor to the kids and a member of the leadership team. Life is certainly never dull, and every day with God at the wheel is a privilege to be part of. |
