Introduction	Alan has served as Muscatine County Attorney since January 1, 2011. He was an Assistant Muscatine County Attorney from 1997 until taking office. He was also appointed as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa from 1999 to 2002. Alan has prosecuted a wide variety of serious felony crimes during his career. He has successfully prosecuted six class "A" felony cases (where the defendant received a sentence of life imprisonment) and has won over 80 felony jury trials in his career. He has experience with the investigation of drug trafficking and manufacture, sexual abuse, and property offenses. As County Attorney he serves as the Executive Director of the Muscatine County Drug Task Force. Alan received a Bachelor of Arts from Grinnell College and a Juris Doctor (with honors) from Drake University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in all state and federal courts in Iowa as well as the United States Supreme Court. Alan is the immediate past-president of the Iowa County Attorneys Association and is chair of the ICAA Amicus Curiae committee.
