| Introduction | Transforming our empty spaces in Detroit into sites for art is an exciting notion. As a curator, what I enjoy most is being a catalyst for an artist to make work they might not have made before. The Lot addresses several issues that I am interested in, such as Public Art, Temporal Art, and Art going outside the white walls of a gallery or museum into the context of a natural space within a larger community. I seek to offer a unique platform for artists with a venue that challenges us to think bigger, to think differently about what we expect from making and seeing artwork, and to have fun. The Lot offers a place for us to experiment and grow, hopefully into something imperfect, beautiful and wild. |
