| Introduction | As much as I'd like to say that my life has been a bitter hardship, I have to make the following admission: our mom baked us cinnamon rolls from scratch nearly every Saturday morning. I have never lost a limb to amputation, nor a loved one to death. I have never known privilege other than the white, male kind. I have a college degree and a paying job. I've never been drafted into the army, nor been shot at by gangsters or drunk rednecks. I have two parents and three siblings and none of us has any physical or mental disability (at least not one that qualifies a person for the Special Olympics). I have a wonderfully beautiful and original wife who I have pushed to the limits of frustration and she has never cut off my penis. My sweet and cool and smart wife and I have a living miracle made of soft flesh and sweet blood. Her name is Cecelia. |
