About me

Occupation Travel Writer
Location Kent, United Kingdom
Introduction I'm a British travel writer, specialising in Central Asia, China and the Himalaya. I write mostly for Lonely Planet but also write the Odyssey Guide to Uzbekistan and have written chapters to several guidebooks to the Silk Road. Tibet and the Himalayas are my other great love. So far I've managed to spend several months travelling and trekking in Ladakh, Spiti, Dolpo, Mustan and Sikkim and spent 14 weeks traveling the length of Bhutan. Since 1990 I've visited most of the Tibetan plateau, authoring seven editions of LP's Tibet guide and exploring the Tibetan areas of Qinghai, Sichuan and Yunnan. In 2010 a five-part Arte/SWR TV documentary followed me as I retraced the route of Marco Polo's travel from Venice to Xanadu. Contact me at Bradmayhew@hotmail.com or www.facebook.com/bradley.mayhew.1
