Introduction Author, radio storyteller, Bollywood script and lyrics writer and photographer. Hidden inside me, a small-town guy. I write film scripts and lyrics and books and other things, but here is what's most cherished -- I tell stories of an imaginary city I have created, Yaad Sheher. My last day job was as a Deputy Executive Editor with the Hindustan Times newspaper, and am currently on a break from journalism. Books so far: "The Absent State", a book on insurgency co-written with Rahul Pandita ... "173 Hours In Captivity: The Hijacking of IC-814" (HarperCollins), "End of The Line: The Story of the Killing of the Royals in Nepal" (Penguin), and the novel "Once Upon a Timezone" (HarperCollins). Edited "India Yatra", "Inspired India" and "The Story of an Ordinary Indian", a book written by my father. Bollywood songs so far include "Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai", "Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai" (Woh Lamhe), "Abhi Kuchh Dinon Se" (Dil To Bachha Hai Ji), "Gulon Mein Rang Bhare" (Sikandar), "Lamha Lamha" (Gangster), "Maine Dil Se Kaha" (Rog).
