Introduction	I first started working in the family business, Codibel, in 1983, formulating professional hair care products. Although I am now mainly in charge of regulatory affairs and quality assurance, my passion for formulating cosmetic products has always remained with me, and whenever I get the chance I sneak back into the lab to pass on ideas for a new active ingredient, a new fragrance, or even a new concept. It helps me to feel useful and I even get to participate in our latest innovations in natural and organic cosmetics! Over the next few weeks and months I hope to share with you an insider’s view of some of the challenges we face as formulators of cosmetic products today, and to pass on some insights into the current controversial topics surrounding our industry.
