| Introduction | For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by the things humans can make with their hands. In today's consumer culture fast fashion often dominates and people buy things only to throw them away after one wear. Making clothes from scratch forces me to think about what I'm doing, makes me focus on basic pieces that will build a sustainable wardrobe, and gives me a creative outlet where I can decide exactly what I want a piece to look like. I have no professional training as a designer or a seamstress - everything I know has come through experimentation. You'll notice I hardly ever use patterns, which don't go well with my impatient nature. I believe in trying, failing, and learning in all things, including DIY. |
