| Introduction | My most recent publications in logic include “Free Logics” in the Philosophy of Logic volume (2006) of the Elsevier Handbook of the Philosophy of Science & “Reference & Perspective in Intuitionistic Logic” in the Journal of Logic, Language & Information (January 2007). My most recent works in environmental ethics are A Land Imperiled: The Declining Health of the Southern Appalachian Bioregion, UT Press, 2005, & “The Move from Good to Ought in Environmental Ethics” in Environmental Ethics (Winter 2006). I am working to organize a national conference on Energy & Responsibility, to be held at UT, April 10-12, 2008. I am also co-chair of UT’s Committee on the Campus Environment, which is preparing a 25-year energy plan for the campus. In 2006 I was awarded a $25,000 Rebuild America grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to assist with that work. I have been active in many local & regional environmental organizations. My wife, Annette Mendola, & I have between us three children. We aim to live equitably & sustainably (though that remains just an ideal), growing much of our own food in organic gardens at our home. A neo-Luddite, I commute to work by bike. |
