| Introduction | I am the last girl in a family of 8 children. I also grew up in a home where remodel projects seemed to be constantly occurring, how else could my parents make room for so many kids. Some of the projects were completed and some never were but I have always lived around tools. Unfortunately it was not until I became an adult that I began to take advantage of that. I started by standing beside my dad and watching him work, trying to learn while holding tools, and trying to absorb some of his knowledge that he learned from his dad and his own personal trial and error. As time has gone on over the years and I have pushed myself into more of his projects he has pushed me out to work on my own and on our last big project I felt as if I actually was able to put much of what he has tried to teach me into practice and my fear of making mistakes started to disappear. Now I take on projects big and small, around our house. Some are done, some are started, and some are still dreams. My husband and 4 boys are learning to live in a home where some project is always going on. Maybe some day my children will want to hold tools, watch and learn. |
