About me

Location United States
Introduction I think I covered it all in my title bar! Basically, I bowed to the omnipresent world of myspace and got sucked into blogging when I started posting to keep up with far-flung friends and family. I am a perpetual transplant, never quite from anywhere and never entirely sure where I am. Currently, it looks like I'll be in the grand state of Ohio for many years, and I'm not shy about admitting that I never saw myself here. Alas, most of my dearly beloved live on one coast or another, and I do mean coast ... They're on the Pacific Coast, or the Atlantic Coast, or the Gulf Coast, or the Great Lakes Coast. I am one of the few in my circle safely nestled in the bosom of the continent. Smothering is a concern, but I must confess that I'm pretty cozy for now. So, I became addicted to blogging on myspace, but my employer decided to firewall the site. I do my work, and I do good work, but it's nice to have an exhaust pipe, so I decided to switch over to this as a way to work around the electronic stockade. So here I am. Shall we begin? P.S. Interests Lots.
Favorite Movies I enjoy a good drama and a fun comedy, but my favorites are always escapist: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars. My boyfriend and I have always discovered a Jimmy Stewart fetish. And I still think Dead Poets Society and In the Name of the Father are among the best films ever.
Favorite Music So many. I've been enjoying the Postal Service, the Decembrists, Belle and Sebastian, and Hidden Cameras recently. My boyfriend turned me onto the Queers. I enjoy Dan Bern and Richard Schindell in my more mellow or folksy moods. My son and my boyfriend's son have led me to a new fondness for Green Day. Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, David Byrne, Tom Waits are all oldies but goodies. Neutral Milk Hotel and Calexico have songs and styles I just adore. And I'm always up for a good reel ... Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys have been known to blast out my speakers.
Favorite Books Too many. Most recently, Wicked by Gregory Maguire, Inkheart by Cornelia Funke, Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi, The Dark Side of Nowhere by Neal Schusterman, and of course The Lord of the Rings is always on my list. I'm really enjoying flipping through Tolkien's letters, too.
