| Introduction | Manufactured by deBeer & Sons Inc. (est. 1889), Clincher is the brand name of one of the more common softballs of the Chicago-style game. The Clincher is a leather bound and broadly stitched ball with a 16-inch circumference and a kapok core. A tropical tree bearing fiberous seed pods, fully hundreds per leaf, the kapok tree (Ceiba pentandra) represents the origins of life in the Mayan creation epic; and the harvest of the fiber for the Clincher's core is extremely labor intensive. But enough about me, how about you? (Don't forget to check out the links.) Peace, Love & Laughs.... |
