| Introduction | Born and raised in Boston's suburbia, in a house bordering a swamp. My love of getting muddy has never faded, though now I have cool rubber boots. Lost my Boston accent in 7th grade when we moved to Lincoln , MA. Went to college in Maine and fell in love with the smell and the deepest night skies I've ever seen. Up and moved to the desert, well, a desert of concrete within a desert: Phoenix, AZ where I taught high school English and Reading Improvement. Freaked out that I'd turn into one of my jaded and angry 55 year old over-worked and martyred colleauges, I skipped town after my two year committment. Suckered into teaching again, briefly, and then left the country for a bird research gig in Argentina. Learned enough Spanish to flirt and piss off locals, travelled a bit. Returned to homeland to paint houses and recap financial losses. Finally got paid to travel: leading teenagers around South Africa. Currently beginning graduate school in science journalism. I told you biology and english were not disparate sunjects. |

Which is easier to make a model airplane out of and why: a banana peel or a wet sock?
bananas are more aerodynamic.
