Introduction	Hello, and welcome to my blog. I'm an English food lover, smokehouse proprietor and cook with a developing interest in our native food culture and its history. Whilst our European neighbours have, on the whole, retained their centuries old peasant food traditions, ours have largely disappeared, snuffed out in the late eighteenth century by the irrepressible forces of land enclosure and industrialisation. I'm looking forward to sharing some of my recipes with you, mostly English fare inspired and developed from old recipes, literary references and inherited dishes. No doubt I will throw in the odd recipe 'borrowed' from our close continental neighbours, to compare and contrast, as and when the mood takes me!
