| Introduction | I am the author of the newly-released Pieces of Eight ~ a tale of old Key West. The historical novel, placed in the mid-1800s, explores the choices women make and the meaning of home. Pieces of Eight received the Richard Heyman Recognition Award from the Anne McKee Artists Fund. My first novel, Sand Dollar, also takes place in the early days of Key West. Four of my short stories have been winners in the Key West Writers Guild Short Story Contest. On a more academic note, I contributed two articles (on W.E.B. DuBois and Thurgood Marshall) to 100 People Who Changed 20th Century America that will be published by ABC CLIO in October 2012. I am the archivist at the Key West City Cemetery and serve on the board of The Friends of the Key West Library as newsletter editor. I’m also a mentor for Take Stock in Children. Born in Denver, Colorado I came east to college at Brown and never quite moved west again. I’ve lived up and down the eastern seaboard of the United States and, for a memorable five years, in Paris, France. |
