| Introduction | This is the part where someone usually writes something like, “Professor J just stepped down after 7 years as Chair of History and Political Science, but continues to adjunct teach to stay in touch with what he loves in academia—students and learning.” Well I do really like those, but actually, I’m just a guy who doesn’t fit in any one category very well (would that be category A.D.D.?). Military member, CPA, financial analyst, teacher, historian-political scientist-academic, world traveler, karaoke singer, athlete, geek…asleep yet? :) I keep wondering if the main things that those different experiences have given me are dual delusions of wide familiarity and clarity, and a pathological disorder to share various written vomitoria related to those delusions! :) I may be a fiercely independent “equal opportunity offender,” but I try to emulate Emerson, who said that everyone he met was his superior in some way, and in that, he learned from them! |
