| Introduction | My husband & I are doing the project...but I'm the 1 blogging, so this is about me: This is our 1st MAJOR renovation. We've cut our teeth on every house we've owned - Kansas City 'sweat equity', kitchen & basements in the Heights & most recently a Craftsman Cottage in Hillcrest (which we'll be renting come December...just 2 quick blocks from UAMS!) This 1896 Queen Anne is what we've been building up for - it's VERY much like the house my husband grew up in...6 kids like the Brady Bunch, in La Grange IL (for those not from there, that's Chicago). We're going from 1200 sqft to 2900, but don't worry, we have 3500 sqft of furniture crammed in the little cottage. The new house has a 'formal sitting room' that will be Jim's law office soon (hopefully - he's taking the Bar next week). It also has 5 bedrooms...to which our youngest said "Wow! Mom can finally have her own room." (I'm not - it's a guest room - and I intend it to stay a guestroom, not a junk room like before). We are learning some history about the house - built by the McDairmids as a rental house (they are interesting folks - I'll tell more about them in the blog). Thanks for looking. |
