Introduction I am Bop! "I am aware that I am less than some people prefer me to be, but most people are unaware that I am so much more than what they see." - Douglas Pagels. I feel as though I am experiencing a rebirth in my thirties, a renaissance of self, so to speak – and I am enjoying every minute of it! Come, join me on the journey! “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things . . .they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” - Richard P Feynman, Phd 1918-1988
Interests drawing and painting, photography (especially nature photography), graphic design and desk top publishing, reading, cooking, gardening, nature in general/the outdoors, botany, cycling, walking/ hiking, going to the gym, meeting new people and learning about new places and things, choir singing (I am an alto) and playing the French horn, genealogy, history, letter writing, word games....etc. Ugh! Too many interests to name and not the time to pursue them all on a regular basis.
Favorite Movies My husband jokes that I only saw five movies before I met him (17 years ago). He has broadened my movie base since then, but still I probably have a more limited base from which to draw. Anyway a few which come to mind that I really like are: As Good As It Gets, Awakenings, Bruce Almighty, Grand Canyon, Mr. Holland's Opus, Patch Adams, Remember the Titans, Signs, Simply Irresistible (my chick flick choice), The Sixth Sense, The Story of Us, Summer Magic, and What Women Want. I will probably update this as I have time to put more thought into it.
Favorite Music "Classical" in the sense of the broad genre of "art music", Sacred Choral Music, Renaissance, Gregorian Chant, Baroque, absolutely anything by J.S. Bach, Brass Quintets, Organ Music, The Mozart Horn Concertos, Widor's Toccata from Symphony No. 5 (for Brass and Organ) Jazz and most all of its various sub-genres, Alternative, Ska, Classic Rock, 80's Rock, I even like a little bit of country (uh, did I say that?) and some R&B, Gospel, and Contemporary Christian....I don't know - again favorites are hard for me to pick and music is such a huge part of my life. We won't even begin to go into symphonic band/wind ensemble literature. My tastes are really ecclectic but anytime, anywhere play J.S. Bach's Cantata # 140 and I swoon - my heart sings - it transports me to another place and time!
Favorite Books Generally speaking I like to read historical fiction, some classic literature, and more obscure novels by mostly yet "undiscovered" authors, a few mainstream authors and lots of non-fiction in a broad spectrum of categories - I am an information junkie and I love to learn new things. I absolutely love the book of Psalms, though- almost every time I read from the Psalms I find one that seems to speak to me in a new way and I love to sing them as well.
