Introduction Radio Jarocho is a New York City-based project devoted entirely to the son jarocho and fandango traditions from southern Veracruz, Mexico.The group has performed in notable events dedicated to Mexican and Latin American folk arts in the state of New York, Washington D.C. and Boston. These include: Celebrate Mexico Now! Brooklyn Folk Music Festival, NatGeo All Roads Film Festival, Lincoln Center's La Casita, New York State Fair, and the National Museum of the American Indian (Smithsonian). Radio Jarocho also performs regularly in the New York City club scene in venues such as Jalopy Theater, Terraza 7 Train, Shrine, and Barbes. As part of the artist's roster in organizations like Brooklyn Arts Council, Mano a Mano, City Lore, and the Americas Society, they promote son jarocho in public schools and community events throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Radio Jarocho's music is energetic, melodic, and danceable. The group writes their own material but also perform the traditional son jarocho and fandango repertoire from southern Veracruz, Mexico. Radio Jarocho is the leading band of the genre on the East Coast of the USA.
