A recent area of research interest is Islam post-9/11 concentrating on the Indonesian experience. A Malaysian by birth I have a strong fascination and affinity for Indonesia. A founder member of the Malaysian NGO Sisters In Islam (SIS). A Fulbright Scholar in Islamic studies (1999) and API Fellowship of the Nippon Foundation (2004-2005).
