Introduction Born Norma Fay Hamilton in Kingston, Jamaica. Farika is a published writer of stories, a folklorist, poet, playwright, scriptwriter, journalist and arts educator. Farika has published several collections of poetry. Her work is also featured as collectors' items in reggae publications and in anthologies. An award winning arts educator, she provides children writing workshops and Write to Read Programs through her company QUEEN OMEGA COMMUNICATIONS. She is the literacy support for Children's Studio Public Charter School; the only school in the nation that is staffed completely by artists using their art to teach academic subjects. The highlight of her career was her attendance of the Sixth Pan African Congress as a delegate. The secretariat's delegation created history by being the only non-Government delegation to be seated in the congress in a country with black majority rule which had a Government delegation. Farika herself created history by being the only woman from the Caribbean to be seated as a delegate and the only Rastafari to be so honored.
