Introduction Language learning is a love of mine. I studied Spanish for 7 years, took two semesters of Chinese in college and recently have been studying German. I am fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and have been using it in educational settings for the past 20 years including teaching ASL as a second language to high school students. I have also taught English to the Deaf as a second language. A couple of years ago, in preparation for an interpreting test, I began to study the linguistics of ASL more closely. My desire to acquire more information in the area of linguistics became a passion. That passion lead me to apply for more schooling. Because my first Master’s degree did not require research, I needed to do a second Master's program before embarking on the PhD. So now I am beginning the biggest adventure of my life! I am headed to the UK where I will study a 1 year Master’s program in Applied Linguistics (Research Methodologies) and then the 3 year PhD program. English as I know it is about to change,(Queen’s vs USA) as well as my understanding of language and how we learn it! I’ve never been so excited in all of my life. :)
