Introduction | Roland Siezen is emeritus professor at the Bacterial Genomics Group at the Center of Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics (CMBI), Radboud University Medical Centre, Nijmegen, where he held a chair in Bioinformatics of Micro-organisms. His main area of focus was genomics and bioinformatics of gram-positive bacteria, in particular lactic acid bacteria (e.g. Lactobacillus, Lactococcus, Streptococcus), food pathogens and spoilage bacteria (eg Listeria monocytogenes, Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus sp., Bacillus cereus) and disease bacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis). Up-to-date bioinformatics tools were developed and used for genome sequencing and assembly, functional annotation of genomes, and comparative genomics. He was head of Microbial Bioinformatics, a company providing services in bioinformatics analysis of microbial genomes sequences.See www.microbial-bioIT.nl |
