IntroductionI am currently a research scientist with the Text, Language and Computation group at Educational Testing Service. I was a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. I do research for the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS) in the areas of Statistical Natural Language Processing and Computational Linguistics. I graduated with a B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering) and got my M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland itself. I then decided that I like writing buggy computer software a little more than creating failure-prone computer hardware and so I switched to Computer Science.

When you open your eyes underwater, do you ever worry that you'll drown?

I swim with my eyes closed ... ask the fish.
