| Introduction | I ran my first race in 6th grade for the "6th Grade Olympics"; the culmination of our middle school study of the Greek culture. To my surprise and amazement, I was actually GOOD at running. I won all six of the events I was entered into. I started running cross country in high school and continued with that and track through my college years at Truman State University. Those were the days I was fast, and though I will never reach those times again, I still love to run. Two summers ago, I finished my first triathlon and LOVED the experience. Whether at a road race or a tri, you just can't beat the energy. It's such an emotional high just to be around so many athletes who wake up early on a Saturday or Sunday morning to exert themselves. Now, don't get me wrong, I totally dig a relaxing Sunday morning with my coffee and my New York times, but you just can't beat the feeling when the gun goes off at 8am! |
