Introduction We left Toronto in 2005 to travel and live on our Alberg 30, Into The Blue, after years of planning, dreaming, learning and working. In our travels we have found interesting places, met new friends, and shared happy and challenging times. We welcome you to travel along with us and catch a glimpse of our world on our Travels Into The Blue blog. Our Cruising With Care blog recounts our attempts to minimize our impact on the world we sail through and to. Our attempts grow out of what we have seen as we travel. Garbage, especially plastic, is pervasive. We see garbage at sea, on the beaches of many islands, even under the water on the bottom close to shore. And then there is pollution we cannot see, but which is still there. Sea and air pollution from vessels, chemical pollution, pollution from boat heads, pollution that leaks through the sand to the water from nearby septic systems. You might say: why should two people on one boat worry about the little bit they contribute? Our answer: we must take responsibility for our own actions and do what we can to improve things before we expect others to.
