Introduction Just a brief introduction. According to school certificate, my date of birth is July 15, 1931. Born in my mother’s village Sumbhi of Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh, India. As my mother died due to snake bite while I was only 11-month-old, my grandmother brought me up and sent me to Kanpur for education along with her son Molvi Hafizur Rahman Aeman Shahabi in 1938. He was a Persian Teacher in Kaniya Kubja College, Kanpur. I had my early education in Madrasa Faiz-e-Aam, Kanpur. Passed Matriculation from K.K. College, Kanpur in 1946 and graduated from Christ Church College, Kanpur in 1951. Joined District Supply Office, Deoria, UP, in December 1946 as a Clerk. Resigned in July to join the railway service in Banaras as “A” grade apprentice driver. Joined Urdu daily Asre-Jadid as News Editor in 1951 continued till 1969. In the meanwhile completed two years Post Graduate Journalism Course in Calcutta University (1954-56). Started working as part-time Urdu translator in American Centre, USIS, Calcutta in 1957 and continued till 1975. Joined as the Chief Editor at the American Centre, USIS, New Delhi in December 1975. Retired in February 1992.
