Introduction Recognised as an early pioneer of hand-drawn type and lettering as image, I've spent my life creating words and pictures for an international client base, with hundreds of book projects to my name (I've stopped counting!) With solo exhibitions both side of the Atlantic, I've expanded into murals, installations, music, gallery shows, chocolate and pirate radio, with a bewildering series of adventures along the way. Clients include: Playboy, Radio Times, Tiffany, Coca Cola, TWBA, Leo Burnett, Macy’s, Starbucks, Toyota, Crayola, Kelloggs, Co-op, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, New York Times, Crabtree & Evelyn, Cadbury's, Unilever, Sage Francis, Saatchi & Saatchi, Folio Society, The Natural History Museum and all major US and UK publishing houses.
Interests Dolls, eating, cooking, the gym, music, my house, our cars, nibs, ink, paper, other cities, ghosts, stories, pencils, my man Leigh.
Favorite Movies There are tons. A Ghost Story, Dark Knight, Transformers, Dead Man's Shoes, Magnolia, Vanilla Sky, Sexy Beast, Wuthering Heights (Olivier, Tim Dalton or Ralph Fiennes version), Truly Madly Deeply, Pan's Labyrinth, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Edward Scissorhands, Titanic (I'm no snob!), Naked, Dumb and Dumber, The Others, and the rest of a big changeable list of arty vs brain-off beauties
Favorite Music Today it's Venetian Snares, Burial, Squarepusher, Portishead, DJ Scotch Egg, Jolie Holland, Bonkers, Sage Francis, Ceephax Acid Crew, Bong Ra, Depeche Mode, Amen Andrews, DJ Food, Luke Vibert, Aphex Twin, Panacea, Elgar, Photek, Luke Abbott, Autechre, Amina, Cortney Tidwell, Simon and Garfunkel, electronically-made blackness and anything that makes me cry (usually best if it's the same thing).

You've got to make contact with the alien leader. How will you tell when the conversation is finished?

She will be asleep.
