| Introduction | I've been driving a taxi since March 7, 1993, and I prefer the night. Like any line of work, taxi driving can be a reflection of the soul. The pragmatic need to pay the bills notwithstanding, for me, it is a deeply spiritual experience. No one calls or hails a taxicab unless they have to get somewhere for a reason. With varying purposes and degrees of urgency, people from every conceivable walk of life (and many paths I've never thought of before) figuratively and literally put their life in my hands. I take that honor very seriously. For a few precious moments, I have the privilege of actively becoming a part of their world, vicariously sharing in their specific joys and sorrows. These relationships fuel a deeper search and understanding of The Bigger Picture, which I feel compelled to share. |
