The first time you had your shoes taken off - how surprised were you to see that you still had toes?
Pretty surprised. I remember the day vividly - I was 13 months old and had been baffled at the disappearance of my toes. Throughout the day, I puzzled over their absence, wondering who was this woman who had taken them from me and what could she have done with them.
