Occupation Retired US Navy Captain

Introduction I like everything about quilting, even binding. My first quilt was a log cabin quilt made with Eleanor Burn's directions. Retired since 2006, I actively seek to increase my quilting knowledge and skills. Classes and quilter groups are my favorite ways to learn. The current project I'm working on is with the Virginia Quilt Museum's Focus Group for the Shenandoah Botanical Album quilt. We meet at my home each month to share tips and excitement about each other's blocks. In October 2013 I started taking a Dear Jane quilt class. My excellent instructor, Doreen Johnson, taught me and my fellow students the required skills to make this advanced level quilt. I am using the original Dear Jane book by Brenda Manges Papadakis for block patterns, some of which I've redrafted a bit. The Dear Jane quilt has been put aside since Summer 2014. I am finishing the Radical Rose and Reel wall hanging and the 1854 Noah and Matilda quilt, patterns from Dawn Ronningen aka "Collector with a Needle." My plan is to return to working on the Dear Jane quilts in January 2016, along with the Shenandoah quilt.
