| Introduction | I'm a mother of 6, a foster mother, a host mother for International students, and a respite mom to children with special needs. I'm a childbirth educator, breastfeeding counselor, doula and an author. I'm a nurse, with experience in psychiatric nursing, pediatric nursing, and community nursing. I am a Christian, married to the same man for almost 40 years (despite the warnings in Babywise that attachment parenting ruins marriage). As a mother of six, pediatric nurse, breastfeeding advocate and especially as a Christian, I am horrified by the parenting recommendations in the book Babywise by Gary Ezzo and his Preparation for Parenting program. Yes I have read the book! When a "Babywiser" said that I was opposed to the program because I simply didn't understand its "biblical basis," I purchased the "Preparation for Parenting" series AND "Preparation for the Toddler Years" so I could study them too. |
