| Introduction | I am recently returning to the city of my birth and rearing, and am experiencing some mild existential malaise, so I thought I would direct some energy into a long-delayed sojourn online to share both the occasional personal thought and indulge in some pop culture lauding/criticism (my mood likely will dictate which you end up reading) |
| Interests | Music, Movies, Books, Football, Trivia, Poker, Karaoke, |
| Favorite movies | Though not necessarily in this order, I'd take these ten: The Godfather, Star Wars, The Magnificent Seven, The Usual Suspects, The Shawshank Redemption, Godfather II, The Princess Bride, Major League, The Great Escape, and Searching For Bobby Fischer |
| Favorite music | You know how the greatest leaders (allegedly) of our history were put on Mount Rushmore? 4 of them? Music's more essential to me, and I'd have 5 on my monument, in alphabetical order: Johnny Cash, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, and Van Morrison. And I wouldn't want to not at least mention Simon & Garfunkel, Tori Amos, Beatles, Stones, White Stripes, Billy Joel, The Police, Nine Inch Nails and The Clash. But I also enjoy indie stuff (Vampire Weekend & Iron and Wine & The Shins) and world music (Gaelic Storm & Mariam and Amadou & Old Blind Dogs) and blues (Muddy Waters & Robert Cray & Mississippi John Hurt) and jazz (Miles Davis & Louis Armstrong & Glenn Miller) and old R&B/soul (Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder) and.... well, suffice it to say that I have wide and varied tastes in music. |
| Favorite books | Books - Shogun by James Clavell, Druids by Morgan Llewellyn, The Eight by Katherine Neville, Booked To Die by John Dunning, The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, anything by Kurt Vonnegut or Jack Higgins, the Robichaux books by James Lee Burke, Robert Parker's Spenser novels. and many more.... |
