| Introduction | Over the past several years we've traveled a difficult road. In February of 2008, when I was 34 weeks pregnant with our second born, I was finally diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension - a progressive and terminal disease. According to the doctors, the only hope I have long-term is if I eventually survive a double-lung transplant. After being in three different hospitals for almost three weeks, two of them in an ICU, I was finally discharged and went home to join my family and preemie. I have a long road ahead of me - what's keeping me alive (besides God's grace) is a continual iv medication that goes straight into my heart through a port in my chest. (For those of you who've been too shy to ask, the black bag hanging around my torso keeps the iv medicine cold.) I've been sending email updates to a constantly growing group of family and friends through all of this. |
