| Introduction | I am currently a junior at the Glenbrook Academy. Homelessness has always been more or less a topic that has interested me. As a young little girl I would often wonder why some had so much more than others. I wondered why there were so many homeless people on the streets of Chicago asking for spare change or dollar bills while others enjoyed the easy comfort of their large, lavish homes. And as an optimistic little girl I hoped to one day become President of the United States and create preventative measures combating homelessness. Although this particular political dream has now escaped me, I still hope to contribute in searching for solutions to eradicate poverty and the homelessness that goes along with it. As I delve into some research regarding homelessness in both China and the United States, I hope to gain new perspectives on dealing with the issue politically as well as socially. |
