| Introduction | Thanks for reading. Please, take your time. Recite, if possible: enjoy the kinaesthetic pleasure of the language on your tongue; use the punctuation as a road-map to navigate the verse; and always -- always! -- re-visit and re-read. / I'm adding this in August 2021. After untold years of absence, I'm revisiting my user profile and noticed that it contains my old email address (now updated). I'm sorry if anyone wrote and never received a reply. I assure you it was my negligence, not any arrogance or lack of appreciation for your interest. / Attentive readers will notice that at one point I started adding "blurbs", written in prose, to the end of my poems. Why? Sometimes they explain where a poem came from: the inspiration; the circuitous way my brain connects the dots. Sometimes they elaborate on some of the ideas in a more comprehensive and linear way: something prose does so much better than poetry. And sometimes they're a little more technical, talking about process and style and the poetic choices I made. |
| Interests | Reading, writing, baseball, and jazz ...what else! Oh yeah, throw in XC skiing, paddling, swimming, and general messing about in nature. And I'd be cheating if I left out politics, public policy, and big ideas. And yes, I do own more than one TV ...and I'm not apologetic about using them! |
