| Introduction | My name is Karan Chhabra, and I’m entering my third year studying English at Duke. I love studying English because I think literature, and art in general, can show the entire experience of a place and time much more completely (and enjoyably) than simple facts or data. What makes this confusing is that I like random things such as finance, cooking, philosophy, and nature (of course), but that I want to go to medical school. In fact, besides becoming a great caregiver, my other life goal is to have my own show on Food Network. Maybe someday. Anyway, I’m excited for this opportunity to have a real, personal experience with nature—but what really gets me giddy is something beyond just myself. I’m most daunted, but most awed, by the idea of learning about and communicating with people whose experiences are completely different from my own. I think this will be the foundation of the service we do—after all, serving nature ultimately is serving people. |
