| Introduction | My name is Ida Galash and I have lived in Portland, Oregon all my life. I am currently a Senior at Portland State University majoring in Art Studies, minoring in Mathematics for Middle School Teachers, and am teaching visual arts at the middle/elementary school level. Married for 24 years, I am the mother of three great kids, Emily 21 (also a PSU student, Jacob, a freshman at Portland Community College, and Adrian, 11 yrs., a 6th grader. I am largely self-taught as an artist, having taken my first art classes within the last two years. My most regular creative outlets are painting murals,teaching the after-school art class at my younger son's school and, as of early February, the art teacher for 254 five to thirteen-year-olds at The Madeleine School in Portland. I am also a martial artist; I study Kung Fu and have a black belt in Taekwon Do. If I am not painting or studying, I love to garden or go for long walks somewhere green and beautiful. In my rare spare time, I play a Celtic harp that followed me home one day. My favorite place is the bench next to my koi pond in my back yard, preferably accompanied by some good dark chocolate. |
