| Introduction | Hello! I am Vanessa Kay, a textile designer and part time art teacher living and working in Hebden Bridge. I originally trained as a Surface Pattern designer, but, after after many years as a designer, both within a studio environment and freelance working from my little studio, I have now changed direction and become more of a maker, creating hand made gifts and accessories from my home high on a Pennine Hill. My love of fabrics, wool and all things handcrafted started at an early age when I was taught to knit by my Mum and sew by my Nana, who was a tailor. I spent many a happy hour as a child sorting through button boxes & making clothes for my Sindy and Pippa dolls! I had my own tiny hand turned sewing machine and eventually a real grown up one! Betty FiddleFaddle was the name of a much loved Rag doll, made for me by my Nana and so my page is named after her! I make whatever I'm inspired to create from the fabric I have available - most of it recycled, or vintage finds and remnants from my Nana's wardrobe! Well, that's about all - hopefully you'll learn more about my makes and the town I call home through my blog! |

How do you pronounce the 'g' in bologna?
Silly question! It's obviously silent!
