About me

Introduction I am Jodi, currently studying Masters of Communication and I would like to specialise in journalism and/or professional writing. I have completed my first semester part time so far. While I am originally from Melbourne, I live in a regional centre in NSW where I can look out the windows of my house and look at towering hills dotted with sleek dairy cows. I love the challenge of studying, the thrill of learning, and the utter relief that my brain cells feel when they are used. Being an off-campus student (and a busy mum) I do as much reading of my study notes as I can before classes commence. Being organised takes away so much of the stress of deadlines. As an off-campus student I have made friends by talking to other people I know around me who are studying, or have studied. And I must say that the online discussion from fellow students can be very lively and has the potential for new friendships. For me, the best aspect of studying at Deakin is the way that the study materials are delivered – to my door! I find that it is a very time-efficient way of studying. My best advice to new students is: don’t stress too much because there is always someone who is able to help you.
