Introduction I'm a cook. Not a chef. Not a creator, nor an innovator. Most of my recipes come from books, magazines or on-line. I'm not into "modernist cuisine". I don't do foams, nor emulsions (save for mayonnaise, which is the single, best substance in the world), nor alginate spheres, nor immersion circulators, nor tall food. I'm into cooking, always have been. I cook because it makes me happy, and then I get to eat well. And sometimes I get to share it with people I care about. I bake because I always thought I couldn't, and set out to prove myself wrong. Mostly, I do. Prove myself wrong, that is. Sometimes I still fail, miserably. But then the dogs are happy ! Most days, though, the culinary planets align, and the kitchen gods smile on me, and what comes out of my little kitchen is good and satisfying and soul-fulfilling. For everyone involved. The willing recipients of the cast-offs (or hand-outs) are Rosie and Lulu. They’re rescue dogs, from the local shelter. Please, if you want a companion animal, save a life, and rescue. And then spay or neuter. The 3 of us live happily in Southern California, enjoying the sun and the ocean breezes.
