| Introduction | ALTERNATIVE CRITIQUE is an evolved media press that examines diversity, mutations, pioneering approaches, and the philosophy of art. The Writer: (Sally Resnik Rockriver) attributes her interest in art, philosophy, material science, and writing to her heritage. Her father is a Philosopher of Mathematics, her mother is a Professional Potter, and her grandmother was the NYC writer, Muriel Resnik. Rockriver studied the philosophy of art in undergraduate and graduate school. She received a BFA from UNC Chapel Hill in Painting and Ceramics and an MFA from Hunter College, NYC. Robert Morris, Bob Swain, and Jeff Mongrain were her thesis advisors in this Conceptual program. Her degree in Combined Medias utilized installation, video, performance, photography, and ceramics. She learned to blow glass later, as an Assistant Professor and head of Ceramics at Minnesota State University- Moorhead. In 1998, Rockriver built a glass blowing studio focused on the intersection of art and science. As a Visiting Scholar at UNC's Material Science Department, she received three National Science Foundation grants. Her artwork is exhibted nationally and published internationally. |
