Introduction In a nutshell, born in Manhattan and grew up in New Jersey. When I was a teenager, I wrote my first short story. Then life got in the way. At the insistence of my father, I enrolled in the Pre-Med program at Caldwell College. In the late 70s, my family moved to Florida where I graduated from Florida Atlantic University. Soon thereafter, I married a New York transplant and had two children. After a few years as a stay-at-home mom, I grew restless and sought outside work. I spent many years in the financial/insurance industry. Then I became one of the “sandwich generation” caring for my ailing mother, while raising two grown children. In 2008, when the economy took a nosedive, I was let go from my job. This was the catalyst that set events into motion. I went on to write a memoir about my mother’s battle with dementia. Julita’s Sands: A Memoir, was published in April 2010. I currently live on the east coast of Florida, with my husband and our dog, Romy.I am member of The International Women’s Writing Guild, an Alzheimer’s Advocate with the Alzheimer’s Association, an Alzheimer’s Early Detection Alliance Champion, and I've done volunteer work for Leeza’s Place.
