When you've got water stuck in your ear, how do you get it out?

I always q-tip my ears after I've been in water to soak up the extra wet...other than that, I hop on one foot; failing that, I deal with it and let it get out on its own; if that's too bad, I use the stuff you buy at drugstores for swimmer's ear--doesn't rubbing alcohol work too?
