| Introduction | Two blogs myopinionofrestaurants.blogspot.com!! mdssucks.blogspot.com. So keep visiting both! Hi again, I'm writing this blog to keep everyone informed of the newest nonsense I'm going through. As many of you may know, my MDS has relapsed. This means that some of my blood cells have gone a little wonky and if it isn't kept under control, it can turn in to leukemia again. We REALLY don't want that to happen! MDS is now considered a "c" word in and of itself. I'll give more background info and definitions in a post. The next few paragraphs are the history of this crap storm. December 2006 was when I was diagnosed with leukemia (AML) and myleodysplastic syndromes (MDS). I spent one month in Danbury Hospital to get me into remission and then another 5 weeks in Mass. General Hospital for a bone marrow transplant. I've been very public about my illness and recovery, because I think it's important to educate people about leukemia and bone marrow donation. I believe I survived for a few reasons: 1) my family and 2) to make a difference somehow. I also believe that everything fits into a grand scheme and I'm fulfilling my blueprint. |
