| Favorite books | I'm a literature addict. I sell books to used bookstores not for the money, but to make room on my shelves for more books. They're multiplying; I don't know how I got so many. My life serves as a cautionary tale. Kids, don't start reading. I'm serious; would you rather get absorbed into fantasy worlds full of exciting adventures, or actually *have* adventures of your own? Reading lots of books makes you smarter. I'm a software engineer with the biggest software company in the world, and I'll tell you right now that being smart isn't going to make you happy. Encourage your kids to take up hobbies that require them to interact with other people. *That's* a habit that will pay off a thousand-fold when they grow up. |
What reason do you have to believe the earth is flat?
The Earth is flat for most practical purposes. Airplane pilots can deal with the details of reality when the abstraction breaks, but day-to-day I've got no use for a Round Earth theory.
