| Introduction | Detail of: "Christ in the Home of Martha and Mary" by Jan Vermeer, 1654. The name I use for authoring this blog, MaryMartha, combines those of two dear friends of Jesus, both of them with qualities I want to incorporate into my own life. Mary was contemplative, eager to learn, extravagant in love. Martha was practical, conscious of duty, steady in faith. Jesus, the Scripture declares, loved them both. And "Jesus loves ME, this I know, for the Bible tells me so!" |
