| Introduction | Stephen Kozowyk recalls his introduction to photography when he admired and experimented with his father's 35 mm camera equipment in the late 70's. This is from whom he acquired his photography inspiration. Having a genetic hearing impairment since birth has allowed Stephen to become more visually in tune with his surroundings and subject matter. His unique style has been developed by the many experiences traveling and engaging with people, places, and things. Black & white photography is his medium of choice. "There are so many emotions that are revealed in a monochromatic photograph." This is especially so when an image is captured with natural light, which he tries to shoot in as much as possible. "It's all about being present, and that is what photography enables me to do, and that is important on a wedding day." Weddings have been a unique platform for Stephen because it's all about telling a couples story, and he is grateful to be a part documenting that story through photography. He also specializes in shooting environmental portraits which he describes as someone that is best in their element and surroundings, as well as documentary, and editorial photography. |
